Operator's Licence

If you are hiring a vehicle over 3500 kg GVW for business use, you will need to have an Operator's Licence. Businesses commonly assume that they are exempt from regulations when hiring a vehicle, but be warned, the hirer is the 'operator' and will need to be licensed.
Kenhire have 'O' Licence information packs available and can offer guidance if you need any help with your application. Rental Reminder: If a 3500 kg GVW vehicle is used with a tow bar, an operator licence will be required.

If you are not sure of the best way to your destination, we can provide a printed route, giving directions and estimated journey times. Rental Reminder: For guidance door to door we often have cars fitted with satellite navigation.

Kenhire accept: Personal cheques with a guarantee card and company cheques are also acceptable and will be checked with TRANSAX.
At the start of each hire, customers must pay: All estimated charges; A £100 deposit to cover fuel, late return or damage (up to the maximum liability); A deposit for the insurance excess unless the appropriate CDW has been paid. Rental Reminder: Account facilities are available for regular corporate users - just ask for a credit application form.

Extra drivers can be added, provided we see their driving licence, at a cost of £2.00 + vat per driver. If you don't have a driver for your hire vehicle, or just need someone to help you move, Kenhire can make all the arrangements for you - just let us know your requirements and we will provide a full quotation.
Rental Reminders: If you use hired drivers, make sure your insurance covers them when moving your goods as Kenhire can only insure them to drive.

For customers with hire requirements that aren't catered for by the standard types of vehicle, we are happy to make our workshop facilities available to adapt vehicles to suit. Bulkheads, loadspace racking, glass frails, toolboxes etc, are all examples of recent customer requests that have been carried out by our workshops.
Contact us with your needs and details of the hire period required and we will provide a quotation to include the necessary alterations. Rental Reminder: We don't just adapt our own vehicles - if you want your own car or van modified ask us for a quote.
