About Kenhire : Terms & Conditions of Hire

The following is a summary of the terms and conditions that apply when hiring a vehicle from Kenhire. The full terms are detailed on the reverse of our rental agreement.

Full hire rates are available on request. Hire rates include unlimited mileage and emergency roadside assistance cover.

Rates do not include fuel. All vehicles start with a full tank and are filled on our premises on return. Any refill required is chargeable.

Unless account facilities are in place, hirer will pay all estimated charges at the start of the hire, together with a £100 deposit, from which all charges for fuel, damage or extension of hire will be deducted on return. If payment is made by credit card, a signed authority permitting all extra costs to be charged to the card will be requested instead of the deposit.

Personal cheques can only be accepted when accompanied by a guarantee card. Company cheques and cheques over the card limit are acceptable provided they are authorised by Transax.

Vehicles are normally collected from and returned to our premises between 8.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Saturday. If Kenhire have agreed that the vehicle can be returned outside business hours (additional charges may apply), the hirer remains responsible for the vehicle until it has been inspected by a member of Kenhire's staff.

Normally our insurance covers drivers between the ages of 23 and 70, with 2 years driving experience and no medical history. However, we can submit for their consideration drivers aged 21, 22 or over 70. The minimum age for driving our minibuses, MPVs, 4x4s and heavy commercials is 25.

Licences for all drivers must be produced at the start of the hire. We can accept licences with 'minor' endorsements (e.g. 'SP', 'CU' and 'TS') but drivers with certain offences or over 6 points cannot be insured to drive unless specifically authorised by our insurers.

Fully comprehensive insurance is given which includes passenger and legal liability, the only exception being the excess amount. The hirer is responsible for the first £100 of this excess in the event of any damage to the vehicle. The total excess must be deposited with Kenhire unless the driver uses our Collision Damage Waiver, in which case only the non-waiveable element is required.

In addition to the first £100 of damage, the CDW does not cover damage to the interior, roof or tyres of the vehicle. The hirer will also be held responsible for any damage arising from incorrect fuel being put into the vehicle.

Fully comprehensive cover may be provided by the hirer. Proof of cover must be shown prior to hire and the hirer will be liable for all damage or losses during the hire and any excess applicable, whether or not the insurers pay out for the claim.

Hirer will be held responsible for any accident which occurs while driver is under the influence of drink or drugs and for any theft where keys are not returned to Kenhire. In the event of accident or theft, Kenhire is under no obligation to supply a replacement vehicle.

In case of accident:
  Obtain names and addresses of witnesses and parties involved;
  Don't admit liability;
  Don't abandon the vehicle without securing it;
  Report details to Kenhire and complete accident form;
  Notify the Police if people are injured or another party's guilt has to be ascertained.

Hire vehicles cannot be used:
  For the carriage of passengers for hire or reward;
  To carry a number of passengers or load which overloads the vehicle;
  By any person other than drivers approved by Kenhire;
  Without an Operator's Licence where appropriate;
  For any unlawful purpose.

You must get Kenhire's permission before:
  Towing a trailer or other vehicle;
  Taking the vehicle outside the United Kingdom (other charges will apply);
  Fitting any accessories;
  Carrying out any maintenance to the vehicle;

  Carrying animals (hirer will be responsible for any resulting damage or cleaning charges that arise).

The hirer is responsible for all fines and court costs for traffic offences (parking, speeding, bus lanes, congestion charges, etc) and all charges arising from the seizure or impounding of the vehicle (by HM Customs, Vehicle Inspectorate, Immigration Service, etc).

Where any fine is not paid on the spot and Kenhire are sent the Penalty Notice, an administration fee of £10.00 + vat will be charged to the hirer.

Kenhire are not liable for the loss of or damage to any property left in hire vehicles. Any property not claimed within 7 days will be disposed of.

Although every reasonable precaution is taken to ensure a trouble free hire, we cannot be held responsible for any losses, additional expenses or delays brought about by the failure or breakdown, however caused, of the hire vehicle.

Kenhire reserve the right to vary the rates and conditions of hire and to refuse a hire without giving a reason. The reverse of each rental agreement shows the full terms and conditions.
